Printer status check [pro]

General information

It checks either the status of a local or network printer or the number of jobs queued for a printer.

Example

Suppose it is necessary to get an e-mail notification when a printer runs out of paper. To do it, you should create a printer status check and specify the name of the printer on the Settings panel. Then check the “Check printer status” and “Out of paper” checkboxes. On the Alerts panel create a Send Mail alert with the “On failure” and “On every occurrence” triggering parameters and specify the rest of the fields. Click the OK button to close the settings window. Now, once the printer runs out of paper, an e-mail notification will be sent.

Control items

Except standard properties for this check you have to specify the next parameters:

Printer Name - the name of the printer to be checked.
Browse - displays a dialog box with the list of printers installed in the system.
Check Printer Status - specifies whether the printer status should be checked. To check the status, you can select one or several statuses.
Check Number of jobs in the printer queue - specifies whether to check the number of jobs in the printer queue.
Fail if number of jobs is - specifies the maximum number of jobs in the printer queue, exceeding which the check will become Failed.
